Today, October 30th, is a bittersweet day for my
family and I. One year ago today my husband lost his best friend and our
children lost their god-father, Gary Ward Crawford, after only a three month battle with cancer. He left
behind a wife and three beautiful children ages 5, 8 and 16. Cancer is a devastating
disease that affects more people now than ever before and I.hate.it.with.a.passion!! Today is bitter
because this day a year ago the world lost

Today, August 2, 2013, marks six years since my sweet mother Mary Lee Brown Flemming, went home to be with the Lord. I’ve found comfort every year on the anniversary of her death in writing her a letter. Nothing special, just a letter
Doing YOU WELL Wednesday #26 and a tribute to my mommy...
Hi everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your week so far.
Today is a bittersweet day for me. Sweet, because it was six years ago today,
July 31st, that my mother’s
doctors sent her to the ER to FINALLY get a diagnosis for what was making her -this
once vibrant lady, who loved doing the jitterbug with my dad- weaker and weaker as the days went by. No one knew what was
zapping her energy and strength (not her family or her doctors). Bitter, because
two days later on August 2nd, six months shy of her 65th birthday and 45th wedding anniversary, we would lose her on the operating
table during
"Doing YOU WELL Wednesday #23...I'm baaack!!
So glad to be
back…missed you guys!!! Can't believe I didn't blog, didn't check my emails AND stayed off social media for two whole weeks! Time sure flew by. As some of you may know, I took a MUCH NEEDED break
from the internet. There’s so much to catch up on and so many blogs I have to
visit!
While I was gone, I wasn’t just sitting around with my feet propped up eating
bonbons, you know…I was busy! So, on this “Doing YOU WELL Wednesday” link-up, I’d
like to share with you what I’ve been up to over the past two weeks.
Some of you might have read my post about my Aunt
Kitty(Sarah Mae Flemming) entitled, “A Silent Strength”.
If you haven’t, you should…it’s a GREAT history lesson! Well, I’m so proud to
say that on Friday, June 28th, on what would have been her 80th
birthday, she was honored by the city of Columbia, SC, with a street naming
ceremony! Now, the corner of Main and Washington Streets in downtown Columbia,
is officially named “Sarah Mae Flemming Way”. Whoopwhoop! God is so good! It was a very
moving ceremony and we were
Dear moms...
I know I told everyone to come back today for "Michell's Weekly Pearl", but I'll resume with that next Friday. However, it would be remiss of me to go into this weekend without paying tribute to all the wonderful mothers out there...know that you are loved and appreciated! So, I've pulled out an old post I did for Mother's Day back in October...IKR! I've tweaked it a little and it fits perfectly for this weekend! In honor of all mothers and especially my lovely mother, Mary Lee Brown-Flemming, who passed away in 2007; who was, in my eyes, the epitome ofThe essence of friendship...
My blog post is a little different this week. In
memory of my husband’s best friend and our children’s god-father (who passed
away last week), I wrote this letter to him as a tribute to his friendship and
wanted to share it. I’m sure if any of you have ever lost someone you loved,
you can relate. Love you all and have a blessed week!
