Mastering YOU Monday...mind over matter

comparing natural birth to an epidural birth
Okay, so my post today was inspired by a conversation I had with my daughter the other day...out of all things...childbirth, IKR! Quite ironic, considering she's not planning on giving us grand kids anytime soon. But I'll save that for another post.

Not quite sure how the conversation started, but I'm glad it did, because I wanted to throw my two cents into the bucket

Mastering YOU Monday...lessons I've learned

lessons learned using Godly wisdom throughout my marriage
As some of you may know, my husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! If you asked me 25 years ago where I would be today…I couldn’t promise you I’d be here.  Why? Because our marriage was definitely NOT the conventional one!

You see, I met my husband on Oct 14, 1988, the first month really didn’t count(because, as he puts it, I detested him), lol. However, I  have a different opinion!

Mastering YOU Monday...when life happens

using Godly wisdom and growing your faith
When life throws us a curve ball and discouragement, hopelessness or depression hits -and don’t let the world fool you- WE ALL have gotten bit by that bug before. No.one.is.immune! When they hit, like the water in the throat of a drowning swimmer out in the waters wailing for his life…we can do one of two things. Let the waters of the residue of this life overtake us, or fight with all we have until that “out of nowhere” rescuer comes to our aid. At those moments we have to make a split decision as to what

Mastering YOU Monday...try not to break

mastering life by making adjustments and being flexible
Welcome back to our first “Mastering YOU Monday” of 2014! Okay, what better way to start off the new year than to start it off fresh and new. I’ve been seeing all over the bloggersphere the “One Word for 2014” prompt. At first, I wasn’t going to participate, but I was inspired by my blogging friend Joi to do so. I’m a little late to the game, but I came nonetheless! So what is my word for 2014 you ask? Flexible!! Yes, flexible!

So here’s my “transparency” moment.

1989...25 years later!

celebrating 25 years of marriage
Happy New Year!! I'm baack and I've missed you all!! A day late, but hey, I've got a good reason! Today my husband and I are celebrating our 25th(Silver) wedding anniversary...a way to start off the new year! Whoop whoop! Okay, for all of you who thought you were coming over here to read some mushy lovey-dovey 25th Anniversary post about how much I love and adore my husband, sorry, you won’t get that on this go around! Mind you, I absolutely love and adore my husband, but I thought I’d go against the grain for our 25th Wedding Anniversary(that’s just the kind of gal I am)! :-)

Mastering YOU Monday...nip it in the bud

mastering life by dealing with our issues
Mornin' lovelies! As I mentioned last week, for the month of December I'll be recycling some of my old post for "Mastering YOU Monday". On our road to "mastering ourselves" and "mastering life", this week I'll be sharing with you how our small issues can become BIG problems if we let them go unchecked. Read on to find out why we should nip them in the bud and do it now...

Because we become busy and overwhelmed with life, we sometimes overlook the small things in our lives, that if left unchecked, can grow into something we can no longer manage....an out of control monster.

Mastering YOU Monday....free yourself

mastering life by forgiving others and freeing yourself Hi everyone!! I'm so glad to be back! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families...I sure did! Of course I was so busy entertaining and enjoying my family...I did absolutely NO WORK as far as my blog was concerned(no answering comments, no visiting other blogs, NOTHING), so I'm back to square one...ughh! Mastering YOU Monday...stay in your lane

mastering life by staying in your place
On our road to mastering ourselves and mastering life, we must learn how to stay in our place and be content with just that! Starting today, we’re going to once and for all get in, and stay in our own lanes! We never get to what God has called us to, because we’re so busy NOT doing what we’re suppose to do, but trying to get in someone elses niche.

God needs each and every one of us to be in OUR place so we can make the whole operation go!! If everyone is over here trying to be a teacher, then who’s taking care of

Mastering YOU Monday...why should He stick around

mastering life by making God first
You can find me reading a self-help book every now and then(especially if it’s a “free” Kindle download). The problem is…I never seem to finish them! That could mean one of two things…either I’ve mastered the topic at hand OR I’ve given up hope that I’ll ever be cured of whatever my “work in progress” might be. I’d say it was the former…but more than likely it’s the latter! :-)

Mastering YOU Monday...who's lovin' you?

mastering life by loving ourselves
In our quest to mastering ourselves and mastering life, we must learn to master our relationships with others!

I have come to the conclusion that issues women have with other women and people in general for that matter, can be solved immediately.  How you ask? By following these two commandments…first: love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul, second: love your neighbors as yourself. Easy peasy right…hah, if only it could be!  We sometimes trip over that last one. Why? Because many of us do just that…we love our neighbors just as we love ourselves…we DON’T!  We treat others just like we treat ourselves…we beat each other up with our mouths(like we do ourselves),

How ugly can you get...my story!

promoting unityI asked a question last week for Mastering YOU Monday…are you willing to be “ugly” for one day in order to be “beautiful”  in Him for a lifetime?  You can read that post HERE. This week I’m bringing to you Part 2!

My post from last week dealt with us giving of ourselves to help others. This week I’ll deal with us giving of ourselves, to help ourselves. How you ask do we help ourselves by giving of ourselves…so He can use us for His glory! I know, totally opposite from last week, huh?  In essence though, this still applies to the question…how many of us are willing to die to our flesh to be in a position to be used greatly by Him? I promise, I’m going somewhere with this y’all!

Mastering YOU Monday...how ugly can you get?

mastering life by putting others first
Happy Monday everyone!! Question…are you willing to be ugly for one day in order to be beautiful in Him for a lifetime? I owe a big THANKS to my husband for giving me the title for this one…thanks darlin’! ;-) You see we were talking last week about making changes and he posed this question and of course my wheels got to spinning. So I ask the question, how many of us are willing to die to our flesh to be in a position to be used greatly by Him?

God loves us, but don’t get it twisted, He doesn't care

Mastering YOU Monday...time for a check-up ladies!

mastering life and doing a seff evaluation

Welcome! I’m so excited about getting back to posting on Mondays! And I’m really excited about my new series, “Mastering YOU Monday” where I’ll be blogging about things we need to unload out of our lives that hinder us from mastering ourselves so we can fully LIVE OUR LIVES! As my husband would say, “gettin’ rid of our stinkin’ thinkin’”! This week, I’ll be laying the foundation and giving you the background of why I started this series.

Anyone who knows me or reads my blog knows that “Doing YOU WELL” is my mantra, my catch phrase and my tagline. Some of you may ask, what exactly is this chick talking
