Mastering YOU Monday...lessons I've learned
As some of you may know, my husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! If you asked me 25 years ago where I would be today…I couldn’t promise you I’d be here. Why? Because our marriage was definitely NOT the conventional one!
You see, I met my husband on Oct 14, 1988, the first month really didn’t count(because, as he puts it, I detested him), lol. However, I have a different opinion!

Today, August 2, 2013, marks six years since my sweet mother Mary Lee Brown Flemming, went home to be with the Lord. I’ve found comfort every year on the anniversary of her death in writing her a letter. Nothing special, just a letter
Doing YOU WELL Wednesday #26 and a tribute to my mommy...
Hi everyone! Hope you all are enjoying your week so far.
Today is a bittersweet day for me. Sweet, because it was six years ago today,
July 31st, that my mother’s
doctors sent her to the ER to FINALLY get a diagnosis for what was making her -this
once vibrant lady, who loved doing the jitterbug with my dad- weaker and weaker as the days went by. No one knew what was
zapping her energy and strength (not her family or her doctors). Bitter, because
two days later on August 2nd, six months shy of her 65th birthday and 45th wedding anniversary, we would lose her on the operating
table during
Dear moms...
I know I told everyone to come back today for "Michell's Weekly Pearl", but I'll resume with that next Friday. However, it would be remiss of me to go into this weekend without paying tribute to all the wonderful mothers out there...know that you are loved and appreciated! So, I've pulled out an old post I did for Mother's Day back in October...IKR! I've tweaked it a little and it fits perfectly for this weekend! In honor of all mothers and especially my lovely mother, Mary Lee Brown-Flemming, who passed away in 2007; who was, in my eyes, the epitome ofI remember when...
Okay, first and foremost I must say that Spring Break was a
blast last week! Family vacation AND my SITS Day on Friday! Can you say
Oooooweeee!!!!
We had an awesome time at the beach! Unfortunately, my
husband and son-in-law couldn’t make it, *insert sad face here*! So, it was just me and
the kiddos! Even though our babies will be 24, 22 and 18 this year, they.are.still.my.babies. and YES we still
hang(our family is close AND cool like that)! :-) This was the first time we’ve gone on vacation
without my husband.:( But it was kinda neat having Keri around...seeing as if
after she got married and moved out last summer, it’s just been me, Big Daddy
and the boys! It took me back to the
days when they were small and we would
A Legacy of Grace...
This week my lovely mother would have celebrated her 70th
birthday. I think it’s ironic that over the past few weeks I have come across so
many people who have told me how special my mother was to their lives. Wow, considering it's been 5 years since she's gone on to be with the Lord!
They don’t know how much that meant to me. I always knew my mother was special! She was what you would call a quiet spirit. For
as long as I’d known her, I never saw
Michell's Marriage Musings...
Hey ladies! Today my husband and I celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary…YAY to
US! To celebrate this occasion, I’ve compiled a list of 24 practical points of
wisdom that if you’re married or thinking about one day becoming…you may want
to read. In my 24 years of marriage, these are principles I learned along the
way either personally, from observing other marriages or from the Holy Spirit. Most are serious, some are humorous...but more than anything, they have
helped build our marriage. Enjoy!- Win the battle over your insecurities NOW, the longer you wait the harder it will be.
Happy Mothers Day...
No, I’m not trying to be facetious,
but want to encourage you to not forget the most important part of motherhood –
NOT the accolades, recognition of achievements, the hurrahs or praise, BUT the
fact that God even gave us children to steward over (watch over, care for,
train and love) in the first place. Because He obviously saw something in us
that qualified us for this awesome position, we should count it as a GREAT
honor! How well we do at it, however, is left up to us. The mother who invests
in her child’s life will be the one that child loves and honors. In life there
are a few things we must get right the first go around – raising our children
happens to be one of them, unfortunately we don’t Don't break him!
Contrary to what
you may have been told, a man’s ego is a very fragile thing. Every time we tell
him how he didn’t do something right, look at him with disdain if he says or
does something WE deem to be stupid, or scold him as if he’s some child…we chip
away at his ego bit by bit. Some of us have done it for so long, we don’t
